Lines Between is a space for exploring how we live, learn, and design in the midst of complex societal transitions.

Rooted in the principles of Transition Design—a framework that uses design thinking to address long-term social and environmental challenges—this platform brings together personal reflection, experimental practice, and accessible tools to help individuals and communities navigate change with intention. I believe that design is not just for professionals or products; it's a way of seeing the world, questioning assumptions, and shaping new possibilities.

The name comes from a simple idea: our lives are made of dots—moments, stories, decisions—and meaning emerges when we pause to connect them. In the lines between those dots, we begin to trace who we are becoming and imagine who we might be.

This site is part journal, part research archive, and part design toolkit. Through Reflections, I share personal insights and observations from navigating life transitions. Experiments document my attempts to test new approaches to learning, working, and living. Frameworks offer practical tools and methods you can adapt for your own journey.

It's for students, educators, practitioners, and anyone asking: How do we design not just things, but lives—and futures—worth living?

About Me

I'm Seth Looper—an architect, educator, and designer of career pathways working at the intersection of design, education, and personal transformation.

My journey has taken me from leading architectural projects in New York to mentoring students across the world, and now to building tools and communities that support thoughtful, purpose-driven lives. I help people design their career paths with the same intentionality we bring to designing spaces or systems.

Through Lines Between, I bring together my background in architecture, career advising, and storytelling to explore how design thinking can help us navigate the messiness of real life—not just in studios or strategy decks, but in our choices, transitions, and evolving identities.

I'm especially interested in how visual reflection and narrative tools can foster clarity, direction, and agency in times of uncertainty. This space is both personal and collaborative. It holds fragments of my own inquiry, field notes from experiments in learning and living, and resources I've built or tested along the way.

Whether you're a student finding your path, an educator rethinking your practice, or simply someone in the middle of a life shift, I hope you'll find something here that resonates.

Let's trace the lines between where we've been and where we're going—together.
